We found these red books at a December buying trip to a Beijing Second hand book market. Though conditions of these red books vary, almost everyone of them contained Lin Biao's words. Since Lin Biao's fall from Chinese political stage in late 1960s and deemed a traitor, any materials containing Lin Biao's words were ordered to be turned in, making these lucky red book survivors a rare collectible. Titled Mao’s Highest Commend, this red book was published by Tian Jin Cultural Revolution Printing Company, and distributed by Tian Jin Xihua Bookstore in 1968. It was distributed internally. In addition to Lin Biao’s words on Mao’s wisdom, this red book also contains Mao’s poem, praising a famous Revolution writer named “Guo Mo Ruo”. Please note that these red books are owned by different individuals, and each of them is unique.
