In celebration of the establishment of Hunan Cultural Revolution Committee on April 10, 1968, this poster was developed by HuNan province Revolution Committee. This poster features Mao, Lin Biao, Jiang Qing (Madam Mao), Kang Sheng, Chen Bo Da, and Zhou En Lai, walking on the TianAnMen square, being welcomed by the representative of People. The above people were considered Great Proletarian Commander Office by Mao and were the brain power for the start of Cultural Revolution. Each person played an integral part during the Cultural Revolution and many were later considered traitors by Mao and others were sentences to prison after the end of the Cultural Revolution. The only survivors that went through Cultural Revolution not blamed by the people of China in this poster were Mao himself and the beloved first prime minister Zhou En Lai. As evidenced by the poster, most evident example of “The People” are Chinese non Han Minorities, as Mao had always advocated one China and unity of all minorities. Right below the poster, it was Mao’s quote: “The great Proletarian revolution is in fact under the condition of Socialism, a political revolution from the Proletarian class against the capitalist class, is a continuation of great people against the nationalist party, lead by the Chinese communist party, and is a continuation of great proletarian class struggle against the capitalist class.” What makes this poster extremely rare is the fact the figures portrayed in this poster, many were deemed traitors of the country and posters or pictures featuring them next to Mao were turned in to the government after their falls. The survival of this poster was in itself a miracle. Size: 29.5" by 20.50"
