Titled “Mao and Children”, this poster depicts Mao talking with two young kids. On the back of the poster it describes the story behind Mao and the Children. It was said that during the days of YaAn, Mao met two young kids and he stroke a conversation with them and praised them for not only good students but also harder workers as these kids were on their way to pick leaves for the silk worms to eat. Yan An is where the communist party set up the base from 1936 to 1948. The party led the people to create a community where under harsh natural environment and isolated political atmosphere, they were able to produce food and clothing for the party leaders and the people. This poster was created in March, 1980 and published by Shanghai education department for the kindergarten educational material. Size: 30” L by 20.5”.
