Titled “I want to be village commune member when I grow up”, this poster features a young and happy child being suited up by a young sent down student in the village commune member attire. Village commune system was established prior to Cultural Revolution as a way to organize the production team and eased to exist in the 80s. In the background of the poster, it shows a banner that says “Welcome Send Down Youth”, this poster was a depiction of the send down era where millions of young students were sent to farms to be educated by farmers in the village commune system. Created by Fei Li Sheng, Published by People’s Publishing House, printed by Beijing Rubber Publishing House, this poster was published in April 1976 and was 11 Chinese cents at the time. This poster has minor tear and wear on the edges, as shown on the photo. Size: 30” by 21”.
