| This unusual marble stone statue is part of a pair of vintage garden statues. Tang lady is a popular form of garden statue art found in China. Tang dynasty images of a beautiful woman tend to be plump and wearing gracious ropes and pointy shoes. Their look, though tracing back to 900 AD is considered in the contemporary world as closer to the Japanese than Chinese, that, some say has to do with the influence China had with its neighboring country. Plumpness was associated with abundance and happiness in Tang dynasty, and images of Tang ladies are still considered good luck and happiness in China. It is considered good fortune to have them displayed together, thus they often appear in a matching pair. Perfect for garden and home décor. Size: 4” by 3” by 16”. Weight: 12 lb.
