| This sitting Guan Yin, an Avalokitesvara in Lalita Asana is carefully carved with intricate details. The Lalita Asana is a pose of ease-one leg pendant and is resting on a lotus pedal. The other leg is in the usual position of Buddha. It is said that Taras, the consort of Dhyani Buddha are found in this position. Guan Yin, an Avaloktesvara, is said to be the Chinese version of Tara, is seen in this position in this stone sculpture. The backdrop is a carving of a pine tree, symbol of longevity. The stone base is carved with dragon riding amids cloud. Guan Yin is known as the Goddess of mercy and compassion. Dragon is the motif for strength and power. Combined with the motif for longevity, this stone statue was meant to bring good luck to one’s home and garden. 10” x 8” x 23”. 90 lbs. | ||
