This notebook has the Chinese character of "Peace" on it and it was used in the early to mid 1960s to capture political study notes. In the notes, it reflected the changing political atmosphere which involved getting rid of some of the most prominent political leaders, for instance, He Nong, who was a famous general during the war but was one of the first to be put down during the Cultural Revolution. This notebook was given to Gao Zhen at his 20th birthday by his classmate Wang Bin on Jan. 3, 1957. The book was first used as dairy on September 11, 1964, when this person graduated from school and entered the work life. In the notebook, he had taken down speeches given by He Nong, Zhou En Lai, etc. Also included was a photo of a person who presumedly the original owner, as well as a hand written poem of his appreciation for his comrades for taking care of him while he was sick. An interesting and rare note book for a serious collector.
