During the Cultural Revolution, under Madam Mao (Jiang Qing)’s guidance, the country of China re-defined pop culture by reinventing Peking Opera and Ballet stories to include class struggle themes. This rare ballet play poster depicts a scene from the Red Army Detachment, as indicated by the title of the poster. On the right the description says that the Red Army Detachment was established, holding the rifles they are in training and are fighting for those people who are suffering.
