This rare Chinese air field defense, nuclear, biochemical and chemical warfare poster series in both Mongolian and Chinese consists of 22 individual full size 30" x 20" posters with vivid images and detail explanations on defense strategy and tactical movements, such as chemical, nuclear, and biochemical war fare threat and reaction, post air strike rescue, and with introduction page of Mao Ze Dong's Thought. In addition to tactical defense strategy, this poster series also shows the importance of study Mao's thoughts, and conduct "Criticize Confucianism, Criticize Lin Biao, Liu Shao Qi" study sessions, with very distinct poster image within the poster showing the slogan of "Down with American Imperialism and Down with Soviet Hegemony". This poster series is so comprehensive in its content and image that it not only represented the early 1970s changing political atmosphere, but also represented a region specific, in this case Inner Mongolia's tense military environment. This rare complete collection of 22 posters is a fine example of the Chinese propaganda art at its peak. Also worth noting was the political background of this poster series. From the Central Chinese government’s perspective, during the Cultural Revolution, Inner Mongolia, due to its strategic location, was at the most risk from the attacks of Soviet Union. This poster series was designed with the intention to train the Inner Mongolians to survive and fight against these potential threats. As a result, the images shown in these posters depicted civilians that are Mongolians and the soldiers are People's Liberation Army.
