| We present these irresistibly charming 18th. century Italian watercolor paintings of genre scenes. Here we see an elegant group of people enjoying the fashionable "al fresco" activities of the day. In one a pair of lovers enjoy an outdoor feast while listening to a lute player whose admirer holds a tambourine. To the left a servant arrives with a savory dish. The other painting depicts seven elegant courtiers and ladies sitting around an outdoor table playing a game of cards. Painted on fine lined parchment and of superb quality, these are an enchanting pair of artworks framed in handsome painted and dowel constructed frames of unique design. They are framed to offer a view of the back where one finds the name of the retailer who proudly signed them in the 19th. century. This interesting framing job reveals a surprising secret. When held up against sun or candlelight one of the scenes will change from daytime to night time! In their frames they measure approx. 10inches high by 12 inches wide and are in excellent condition. | ||
