A really delightful pair of children's bracelets in coral celluloid in their original box. Names in ink on the box are Lila's and Effie, who I assume are the children who owned the bracelets. The box dates to 1873. This is an unusual and sweet item.

Size: box 2-1/8 x 2-3/8 inch
bracelets about 4 inches long

Condition: box has age soiling and a bit of paper side loose. The bracelets are fine.

Very unusual pair of hairpins made of Vauxhall glass. This was a glass originating in the early 1700s at a glasswork factory in Vauxhall, England. These are 19th century and still retain all of the glass intact, which is unusual for this type of glass. These were made to emulate flat cut stones of the type used in Georgian jewelry. An interesting pair.

Size: 3-3/8 inches long x 1 inch across the top

Condition: Very good for age, minor glass age flaws, but not distracting.

Purchased these many years ago as an interesting historical string of costume pearls. Probably made of glass and fish scales. Clasp is gold, and the strand comes in the original antique box they came in. Cover was originally silk, but is now almost worn away. In the cover interior is a note that says- " Wedding necklace of Eliza Ann Th........., of Philadelphia. Granddaughter of of Ellen Seton Ogden, 1816-18?". Unable to decipher the surname of the bride. A very unusual piece, and in amazing condition for the age.

Condition: Good. Under magnification, a couple of the pearls have some damage. Box cover worn as stated.

Size: Length of strand- 16 inches.

An unusual long Georgian brooch of pressed gilded metal with an interesting scrolled design. The piece is highlighted by a row of cut steel beads along the length of the brooch. Not sure what the brooch was designed for, as it is quite long, wide, and curved. Certainly quite striking.

Condition: Very nice.

Size: length- 5 1/8 inches, width- 1 1/2 inches.

This is a fascination Georgian flower basket charm, made of either Coquilla nut, or vegetable ivory. I am not positive which. Beautifully crafted as a tiny turned basket with silver wires around the circumference and silver raised dots. The material has lighter and darker areas, and the swinging handle is of twisted silver wire. The tiny basket holds a bouquet of varied flowers of mixed metal. Exceptionally crafted piece.

Condition: One tiny inlay piece missing on edge.

Size: Height- 3/4 inch to top of handle. Width- 1/2 inch across.

This is a quite rare, and unusual, early 19th century six panel handpainted bracelet with a different bird in each panel. I have been purchasing and collecting antique and vintage jewelry for thirty years, and have not come across a bracelet like this before. Each of the handpainted birds is set in a silver surround with a beveled glass front, linked together, and fastened with a box clasp. The image detail is excellent, and each panel is unique. It appears as if the birds are from different countries, as one is a parrot, one a peacock, and another a waxwing. It is impossible to tell what the birds are painted on, but it doesn't appear to be paper. Possibly ivory. This is truly a collectors piece.

Condition: Glass has some minor surface wear under magnification. One bird has been professionally re handpainted. Colors are delicate, but vibrant.

Size: Length- 7 inches. Largest panel -height 1 3/8 inches, width 1 inch.

An unusual cherub design mourning locket of gutta percha, or vulcanite. Surround is a black lacquered metal with a ball design around the circumference. The center shows an image of a sweet cherub in quite high relief, holding what appear to be grapes. There is a small relief grip on the edge, which enables the locket to be opened. Back is beveled glass, and at present holds an old photograph, but could hold a locket of hair or a miniature. The piece has its original bale and silk grosrain ribbon.

Condition: Some color loss to the metal, and the ribbon a bit frail.

Size: Locket- 1 3/8 X 1 inch. (not counting bale). Ribbon- 10 ¾ inches top to bottom

These are a beautiful matched pair of Victorian gilded metal and paste stone bracelets. They appear to have been made for a baby, or small child, and have small red glass stones inset in raised diamond designs. Two red stones in floral designs hang from each of the bracelets. For their age it is surprising they bracelets are still complete.

Condition: fine, with very minor discoloration to the hanging decorations.

Size: circumference is 3 1/2 to 4 inches, as the bracelets open to slip on.
