This is a very interesting enamel and gold brooch that is probably Edwardian, C. 1910. Unusual design - with a central shield, or coat of arms, flanked by what appears to be the sails of two Viking ships. These are incorporated into the overall design of a crown with enameled stones along the base and a half shield at each end. Absolutely beautiful enamel work and marked 15Kt.

Condition: Fine.

Exquisite antique Mizpah brooch done in three colors of gold. I have had these brooches in silver, but never in gold and with such an intricate design. The word Mizpah is an emotional bond between people who are separated. Mizpah jewelery is worn to signify this bond, and was common in Victorian times as a type of blessing, or good luck.
The piece is hallmarked – Birmingham 1888, and has its original C clasp and pin. Really an exceptional brooch with the three colors of gold.

Condition: Fine.

Size: 1 ¼ X ¾ inch.

The elaborate brooch frame is gold, and is enameled with black and white highlights. Original C clasp and pin.

A very unusual lava cameo of a hunting dog, appears to be either a retriever or setter. The lava stone has been carved to create an effect of two tones to the dogs coat. Image is in quite high relief, with the dog standing on a rock formation which is also in two tones of color. The cameo is framed in its original rectangular gold colored frame with C clasp and long pin. Quite a rare piece with with an unusual motif.

Gold has some wear and there is a fine line separation at the hinge, but still totally firm and wearable. There is a very tiny flake on one side of the carving, but this may be intrinsic to the piece.

Size: 2 X 1 1/4 inch framed.

Although not a large piece, the craftsmanship in this antique grouse bar pin is exceptional, and the gold, platinum, and enamel work reflect the care in which it was made. The bar pin is 15Kt gold, and the grouse is platinum with a rose gold center, a yellow gold top, and a copper enameled head with a yellow enamel beak & eye. There is a safety pin and chain attached.
A subtle piece but exquisitely crafted.
