A wonderful early 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a young girl with crimped hair, a sweet expression, and a string of coral beads for good luck. She is wearing a white regency style dress with blue band trimming and ribbons on the shoulders. To her side is a theorem style basket of fruit, and behind her is a red curtain to one side as a background. She appears to be holding a piece of fruit in her hand. An exquisite and rare Ernst Grossman 14 inch bisque doll that was made for the French market. What is so rare about this doll is that she has an open mouth with upper and lower teeth and a slight overbite, which I would think was to emulate the Jules Steiner open mouth French doll. I have not seen an Ernst Grossman doll with this type of mouth and teeth in the literature. Beautiful bisque head with no chips, cracks, or hairline cracks. Finely feathered eyebrows. Inset blue blown glass eyes with dark rings around the striated iris. Pale lavender eyeshadow above the eyes. Painted upper and lower eyelashes. Delineated and shaded lips. Pierced ears into the head, and a lovely long blonde mohair wig and a plaster pate. The body is made of wood and, apparently Ernst Grossman was known for creating the first ball jointed body. Straight wrists and initials on the body which appear to be EG although a bit hard to read. Body is quite distinctive with leather in the neck socket to protect the neck. Head is incised with a 7 or a 4. Very attractive vintage clothing and antique shoes and socks.

Size: 14 inches.

Condition: Bit of white area at top of forehead original to doll. Body could use restringing.

A beautiful antique, Faberge style, guilloche enamel table clock with bronze scrolled bows and tassel highlights on the face. The guilloche enamel is a rich lavender color and is framed with a decorative silver gilt edge. The clock has a white enamel face with fancy hands, and the back is made of rich rosewood with matching stand.
On one side of the frame are the numbers 13327, and on the other side are touchmarks. One may be an eagle’s head, and the other is indistinct. The piece is probably French, but is very much in the Faberge style. Definitely antique, C.1890. Wonderful rich colors, and magnificent enamel work.

Condition: Fine, and in working condition.

Size: Clock- diameter 1 ½ inches. Frame- 5 ¼ X 4 inches.

A lovely pair of small 18th century needlework pictures that are unusual in that they are still vibrant after about 250 years. They are done in extremely fine silk thread tent stitch, and are of pastoral scenes of ladies and gentlemen. The pieces have wonderful shading and coloring in blue, red, green, cream, brown and tan. The workmanship is meticulous. They are in antique oval frames with original brass loops for hanging. Very unusual in this size.

This is an exceptionally beautiful, made in France, ormolu book with seven reverse painted scenes of Paris set into the front cover. Very likely a souvenir purchased in the Palais Royale shops. The book has its original pencil, and a small calendar in a side pocket that dates the piece to 1856. The first page of the note book is marked with a small engraving of a couple and the word - 'Souvenir'. The following eight pages are blank, then two thicker pages with the days of the week in French, followed by several more blank pages for notes or comments. The book has a royal purple velvet spine and a red watered silk lining. The original leather case has a cream silk and velvet interior and hook closures. One of the finest pieces I have seen.

Condition: Very good. Images bright and clear. Metal work bright. Case has minor scuffing.

Size: Case- 4 3/4 X 3 1/2 X 5/8 inch. Book: 3 3/4 X 2 1/2 X 1/4 inch.

Exquisite antique silver tested German vinaigrette spice holder in a figural quince design with leaves, and a small bud. The piece screws open in three places. The base of the quince unscrews to reveal a vinaigrette with a grill, which can be removed. The top also screws open with a small space, probably to store spice, or powder. Finally, the bud unscrews to show a small storage area. Workmanship is magnificent and all sections fit together smoothly. The silver surface of the piece has a lovely geometric design all over. A bale ring is attached to enable the piece to be worn as a pendant.

Condition: Very nice.

Size: height- 2 5/8 inches to top of the stem.

This is a quite rare, and unusual, early 19th century six panel handpainted bracelet with a different bird in each panel. I have been purchasing and collecting antique and vintage jewelry for thirty years, and have not come across a bracelet like this before. Each of the handpainted birds is set in a silver surround with a beveled glass front, linked together, and fastened with a box clasp. The image detail is excellent, and each panel is unique. It appears as if the birds are from different countries, as one is a parrot, one a peacock, and another a waxwing. It is impossible to tell what the birds are painted on, but it doesn't appear to be paper. Possibly ivory. This is truly a collectors piece.

Condition: Glass has some minor surface wear under magnification. One bird has been professionally re handpainted. Colors are delicate, but vibrant.

Size: Length- 7 inches. Largest panel -height 1 3/8 inches, width 1 inch.

This is truly a masterpiece of Japanese lacquer. Cannot find a signature on the piece, but the workmanship must be distinctive to experts in the field. The design is of a stylized water scene with various branches and blossoms in variegated gold and gray colors. There are five medallions, or mons, on the body, as well as two on the lid.
The interior is a rich red lacquer color, and there was originally a small oval label on the bottom, which said c. 1750, but has come off over time leaving a small darker patch. Ewer stands on three feet. Exquisite workmanship and colors.

Condition: Tiny area of professional restoration on the red lacquer inside lip of the spout. A few minor lacquer loss areas, but overall in very good condition.

Size: height- 4.5 inches. diameter – 4 inches. diameter including spout – 6 inches,

This is an exceptionally beautiful painting of a young Swiss girl dressed in a provincial outfit and painted in bright vivid enamels colors that bring the costume to life. The detail work in the painting is exceptional, with even the crown having several colors.
The piece is counter enameled in a lovely blue gray color. This is on the reverse to support the colors when the piece is fired.
The elaborate brooch frame is gold, and is enameled with black and white highlights. Original C clasp and pin.

Condition: Some very minor scratches under magnification, but not visible to the naked eye.

Size: 2 1/2 X 1 7/8 inches.
