An interesting Art Nouveau folding metal card, or letter rack with three graduated folding sections. Each of the sections have pierced stylized floral designs which are painting in alternating lighter colors to the dark reddish brown of the base. Each section folds flat to the base. The front of the base has a place to put a pen, and a cover that opens to reveal three sections for stamps. A very ingenious, and attractive piece. Marked on the bottom... 'DR GM 237670 Ges. Gesch. ' which would indicate made in Germany. Condition: Very nice. Minor age wear, but nothing that detracts from the appearance. Size: 5 1/2 X 6 inches. Height at the highest - 4 5/8 inches. |
