This rare Samson & Mordan Owl Retractable Pencil is a very unusual piece. The design is of a detailed silver owl with large opalescent glass eyes. When the top ring is pulled up, a pencil slides out of the body at the bottom. The owl is beautifully engraved and very realistic in appearance. The piece is marked S. Mordan & Co., and has been tested sterling. Could be worn as a pendant, or charm, as the piece is very attractive. Condition: Fine. Retracting mechanism works well, but the pin to extrude the lead is not working. Tiny rub on one glass eye, but does not detract in any way. Rich color to the silver. Size: Closed- 1 ¼ inches. Open- 2 ¼ inches. |
