This is a very lovely carved mother of pearl needle case. On the front is the design of an enamel and gold pansy that was the symbol of the Palais Royale, a fancy area of shops near the Louvre in Paris.
The piece dates to the early 19th century and has a beautiful rich color to the mother of pearl. Condition: Overall fine. Very tiny edge chip on inside tongue, and small stress lines. Outside perfect. Size: length- 3 1/8 inches |
