This is a very interesting enamel tray that I believe is on copper, although since the piece is gilded on the back, it is difficult to tell. The enamel work is exceptional, with a sky blue background against which are stylized images of two bats in the center, colorful butterflies on each end, a branch with leaves at the top, a ripening fruit at the bottom, and four delicate pink flowers around the circumference.
The images are done in delicate varying shades of green, pink, brown, red, blue, and purple, and the tray stands on four decorative ball feet. Condition: Very good. There are a few bits of enamel loss and minor crazing and one flower is slightly bent, but the overall effect is beautiful. Size: 10 X 7 inches. |
