This is a lovely Royal Staffordshire saluting Kewpie doll with the Vancouver coat of arms on his chest, and the legend, “ One of the Bhoys”, on the base. This particular coat of arms came into being in 1909,
and given the salute, the piece was quite likely a wartime souvenir. The doll is white china with painted googly eyes, a pointed top knot, and the unusual saluting arm. The coat of arms crest is handpainted in various colors, and the registration mark on the base dates the piece to 1918. Condition: Fine. No cracks or chips. Size: Height- 6 3/8 inches. |
