This is a quite rare 18th C. Bilston Battersea enamel patch, or snuff, box. Enamel on copper and with different hand painted flowers on all sides. The bottom is also decorated with a bee, or fly. This charming little box has gilded metal fittings. Condition: Some wear to the bottom four corners due to age. Enamel hairline crack on the top and inside, and age discoloration to the metal. For a piece of this type, the box is in remarkably good shape for its age. Colors are bright and clear. Size: 2 3/8 X 1 7/8 X 1 inch. |
