An elaborate Victorian 15 kt gold and onyx brooch, highlighted with bright stones, pearls, and decorative enamel work. A quite unusual piece in that the dark central section with gold design work is not enameled, but an actual piece of polished onyx. The central stones are synthetic sapphires, as well as onyx, ruby, pink sapphire, and pearl. The design of the brooch is exceptional, with a central star shape and five graduated triangle shaped dangles hanging from thin gold chains. The pin and 'C' clasp are original, with the 'C' clasp having two touchmarks. One of which is an eagles head, indicating gold of French origin. A lovely brooch with excellent workmanship. An appraisal is available, which is considerably more than the listed price. Condition: Small scratch on back of onyx. Otherwise – excellent. Size: Height- 3 1/8 inches from top to bottom of central dangle. Width across circle- 1 ½ inches. |
