Great old Jack in the Box toy C. 1890 with a squeaker in the wax over papier maché head. Jack has realistic painted features and a cloth covered body on a spring. When the lid is raised, Jack rises and squeaks. The box itself is wood covered with paper decorated with decorative designs of fish, cats, horse shoes, and crowns etc., as well as a lithographed fairytale scene on the front panel. A very sweet old toy that closes with a hook and eye fastener.
Condition: very good. Still squeaks. Size: Box: 3 3/8 X 3 ¼ X 3 5/8 inches. |
