This is an exceptionally beautiful painting of a young Swiss girl dressed in a provincial outfit and painted in bright vivid enamels colors that bring the costume to life. The detail work in the painting is exceptional, with even the crown having several colors. The piece is counter enameled in a lovely blue gray color. This is on the reverse to support the colors when the piece is fired. The elaborate brooch frame is gold, and is enameled with black and white highlights. Original C clasp and pin. Condition: Some very minor scratches under magnification, but not visible to the naked eye. Size: 2 1/2 X 1 7/8 inches. |
