This is a beautiful vintage chocolate box by J S Fry & Sons in a rich blue velvet with gold metal trimmings. Originally must have contained only the finest selection of chocolate confections. The top lid and bottom edges are covered in a rich blue velvet with the sides in blue silk. The corners are of 9kt gold, and there is a lovely decorative handle and clasp. Interior of the box is a white paper with an advertisement for J S Fry & Sons Manufacturer to the King, and with a blue velvet insert on the bottom. The piece dates to Edwardian times and brings back memories of a different age. Condition: Some reddish stains on the inside which are covered by the blue insert and were probably from candies. Minor velvet and silk aging, but nothing that detracts from the appearance. Size: 14 X 4 X 1 3/4 inches. |
