A lovely antique Meissen cup and saucer in puce and gold, with a cartouche of a man on horseback observing other men carrying a flag and engaged in battle. Beautiful gilded surround with a beetle bug and flower painted on the white background. The interior of the cup has a floral design, with more gilding on the interior rim. Saucer shows a battle scene of men on horseback. Marked with crossed blue swords. The saucer has an incised number 64?, and 78 written in gold. The cup 78 written in gold, and 24 incised. Condition: Very nice. Tiny rough area on the rim of the cup, perhaps a very tiny flake. The foot of the cup has some roughness that appears to be from firing. |
