Early Mesoamerican motif ~ Handsomely handwrought …
Boasting exceptionally meticulous cutwork, openwork, and hand tooling, this striking bracelet is composed of six convex, circular panels, connected by O-rings at the top and bottom. The disk-like panels are detailed with twisted silver rope ornamentation at the perimeter, as well as a tooled and oxidized border of double circlets. The dramatic centerpiece of each panel displays a pre-Columbian, glyph figure {most likely depicting a monkey}, with spiraling, highly stylized features. Lightweight and comfortable to wear, yet quite substantial in design and overall workmanship, this 1950’s bracelet is a splendid example of Taxco silver artistry. Hallmarks: TAXCO, HECHO EN MEXICO, 925 {circle}; BL {script, appearing in two places on bracelet}; Eagle assay #3. Dimensions: 7” wearable length; 7-1/2” including v-spring and box clasp. Each panel measures approximately 1-1/4” in diameter. Weight: 27.7 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition, definitely collector quality. |
