Hand cut ~ High detail ~ Handsome design …
This awesome, Native American, storyteller cuff bracelet was designed and crafted by R. H. Begay, a celebrated Navajo silversmith. Constructed in masterful silver overlay, against a darkly patinated background, it depicts traditional images of life on the Navajo Indian reservation, including livestock, a wagon, a hanging blanket, a woman cooking or perhaps making pottery, a hogan, a horno {adobe outdoor oven or kiln}, sheaves of wheat, and overhanging clouds. Each storytelling icon has been intricately hand cut with exceptional detail, and the cuff’s terminals are finished with tooled and incised patterns. Simply sensational! Hallmarks: R. H. BEGAY {stamped surname and initials in 1/16 Gothic print}; STERLING. R. H. Begay is listed in Hallmarks of the Southwest, 2nd Edition, by Barton Wright. Dimensions: 5-1/2” inner circumference, plus 1” back opening. The piece is fairly rigid. It is 3/8” wide. Weight: 18.3 grams. Condition: Excellent condition, shows no signs of wear. |
