Magnificent motif ~ Superlative silver making! …
Handcrafted by a highly skilled, but unattributed Navajo silversmith, this outstanding open cuff bracelet boasts a singular design. It is composed of a large, scorched, 1-1/2” x 1-3/4” silver platform, with a deep-set bezel, which is attached to a solid, two half-round wire cuff soldered together at each terminal. Three applied, solid silver raindrops and beautifully defined silver feather seem to float atop the black patinated ground. While a rounded and polished turquoise is surmounted as the centerpiece, flanked by two striking oxblood red coral branches. The gemstone and coral are set in sawtooth silver bezels, and a twisted silver rope surround frames the turquoise. The turquoise itself displays a magnificent golden brown matrix, as well as exposed pyrite. Most likely dating to the 1950’s or ’60s, this cuff is a rare and rarified piece of native Americana. Hallmarks: Unmarked, but tests positive for high silver content, possibly 925. Dimensions: 6-1/2” wearable length, including 1” back opening. Cuff’s front measures 1-1/2” x 1-3/4”, and tapers to 3/8” at the terminals. Weight: 47.2 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition, definitely collector quality. |
