Set against a panoramic desert vista of mesas, cacti, and a sun-bleached bison skull, this astonishing, open cuff bracelet captures an iconic moment in the history of the Old West. It tells the tale of two dramatic hunts: one of a lone Navajo brave on horseback, aiming his bow and arrow at the buffalo charging beside him, and the other of a majestic eagle, talons at the ready, swooping down on a running rabbit. Handwrought in heavy-gauge sterling, the cuff is a tour de force of silver making, including elaborate silver overlay and deep relief cutwork, against an oxidized and textured ground. With its breathtaking detail and dimension, it is at once a marvel of wearable art and a prized collectible for aficionados of native Americana. Hallmarks: Sterling; JJ. JJ is the shared hallmark of JoAnn and Jerry Johnson, a celebrated Navajo husband and wife silversmithing couple, from Church Rock, New Mexico. Dimensions: Inner circumference measures 6”, plus 1-1/16” back opening. The cuff is fairly rigid and cannot be adjusted without damaging it. It measures 1” wide all the way around. Weight: 55.9 grams. Condition: Superior condition, definitely collector quality. |
