“Fred Harvey” Era style ~ Exceptional collector quality! …
Evocative of the Native American jewelry that was produced for the tourist trade during the 1920’s and ’30s, this awesome, vintage cuff bracelet was handcrafted by noted Navajo silversmith Jane Popovich. It is made with a vivid, oval turquoise cabochon as its centerpiece that is set in a smooth bezel and bordered with a braided rope surround. The stone cab, which displays a beautiful golden brown matrix, has been surmounted to a slit sterling silver cuff with scalloped edges across the front. The cuff front also is splendidly decorated with a set of applied silver crossed arrows {friendship} and repoussé hogans {permanent home} symbols, flanking the gemstone. Striking stampwork of Native American icons completes the bracelet, including arrowheads {alertness}, thunderbirds {unlimited happiness}, right and left pointing arrows {warding off evil spirits}, and sunrays {constancy}. Just fabulous! Hallmarks: STERLING, JP {conjoined}. This hallmark is featured in Hallmarks of the Southwest by Barton Wright. Dimensions: The bracelet measures 1” at its widest, tapering to 1/4” at the terminals. It has a 5-1/4” inner circumference and a 1-1/4” back opening. It can be slightly adjusted for fit. Weight: 15.6 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. |
