Rare Vintage Sam Fried Silver + Jade Cuff Bracelet
Sublime silverwork ~ Divine design … Here is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind piece from American designer Sam Fried. Born in 1910, Fried was best known for his imposing, sterling silver jewelry made mostly in the modernist style. Fried died in 1979 and today his works are difficult to find. This spectacular cuff bracelet is a true rarity, because it was produced in a singular and classic Arts & Crafts manner. It is composed of two rounded, split bands that create the wide cuff and close at the back with a large foldover clasp. The silver bands are heavily hand tooled with a superb foliate pattern, while the clasp boasts a strikingly refined floral and foliate tooled motif. The intricacy of the cuff, however, actually serves as framework for the bracelet’s stunning centerpiece, which is comprised of a beautifully faceted, dark green jade gemstone. Set in a smooth silver bezel, the stone is attached to both sides of the cuff with tubular silver connectors that act as hinges, and allow the entire piece to flex and fit the wrist with grace and comfort. An exceptional piece of wearable art, as well as a resplendent collectible, this bracelet is an outstanding example of mid-20th-Century American jewelry making.

Hallmarks: FRIED; STERLING {marked in two places on bracelet}. Dimensions: Approximately 6-1/2” inner circumference. The bracelet measures 1-1/2” at its widest and 1/2” at the clasp. The jade inset measures 13mm x 23mm. WEIGHT: 46.1 grams. Condition: Excellent vintage condition, definitely collector quality.
