RARE Peru Modernist G. LAFFI Silver + Enamel FISH PIN
“The Spratling of Peru” … Florentine-born, Graziella Laffi lived and worked in Peru during the 1950’s, producing singular and stunning silver pieces in both modern and pre-Columbian forms. Most aficionados believe that her creations rival the masterworks that came out of Mexico. She is one of today’s hottest collectibles in the field.

Impressive in both size and heft, this splendid figural pin is a Laffi masterwork! Depicting a highly stylized fish—almost prehistoric in appearance—the piece boasts vibrant mottled enameling in light and dark shades of cobalt blue for its enormous eye, and deeper blue enameled mottling for its boldly ribbed body. The deeply convex form of the fish gives it a superb dimensional quality, and Laffi’s brilliant cutwork and trademark, minimalist tooling add sublime definition and detail. Silver with enamel inlay pieces by Laffi are difficult to come by, especially ones as impressive and in such superior condition as this. It is spectacular wearable art, and makes a stunning display piece in any G. Laffi or modernist collection.

HALLMARKS: On the back of the tail fin—PERU, LAFFI, 925. DIMENSIONS: 3-1/4” x 1-1/2”. WEIGHT: 21.5 grams. CONDITION: Superior vintage condition, definitely collector quality, including a secure, rollover-locking clasp.
