Dynamic design ~ Expert execution! …
At once classic Taxco with its pre-Columbian motif and Art Deco in its bold geometry, this incredible bracelet was produced at the height of Mexico’s silver renaissance. Handwrought in sterling silver, it is composed of seven slightly convex, square panels interlinked by pairs of fixed and floating O-rings at the back. Each panel boasts a divine display of cutwork and piercing, as well as deeply incised linear and curvilinear lines, with heavy oxidizing. The superb flat chasing, as well as the overall presentation, is very evocative of early works by William Spratling and Hector Aguilar. Dating to the late 1950’s, this is a true showpiece and splendid collectible. HALLMARKS: S.B., MEXICO, TAXCO {circle}; 925 {inside circle}; STERLING; Eagle assay stamp #3 {silhouetted}. This hallmark is recorded in Bille Hougart’s The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks. DIMENSIONS: 7-1/2” x 1-1/8”. WEIGHT: 60.2 grams. CONDITION: Superior vintage condition, definitely collector quality, including a secure push bar v-spring and box clasp. |
