Anodizing aluminum is an electro-chemical process that allows the surface of the metal to be dyed brilliant colors. A protective as well as a decorative finish, the oxide coating that is formed on the surface is harder than the aluminum itself, and thus creates a lasting and functional work of art. This large, modernist pin is a striking example of anodized aluminum jewelry. Handmade by a skillful artisan, the lightweight piece is composed of layered, various shaped, aluminum elements that create a superbly dimensional, geometric design. The aluminum elements boast a sublime color palette of red, teal blue, apple green, gold, purple, and black that is boldly vibrant, yet inviting to the eye.
