"Job", is a poster created by Jules Cheret (1836-1932)in 1889. He is refered to as the "Father of Poster Art." Cheret set out to completely transform the dull advertising broadsides that papered walls and kiosks along the streets of Paris, enlarging them to bold dimensions replete with bright color and eye-catching imagery. His idealized woman, dressed in bright colors, became very recognizable to his legion of fans. "Job" is a two-centuries old poster in outstanding condition...

A stunning young lady sits and admires her pearly whites in this circa 1890 toothpaste ad. The poster is linen backed, measures 39" x 52" and is in excellent condition.

Georges Meunier (1869-1942) was a prolific artist during the early years of poster art. His deft touch is on display in this 2-sheet poster for Auer gaslight fixtures. Nearly every posterist of note during the Belle Epoch created a design for this client, and Meunier's starry execution has a great deal of dazzle. Th poster is circa 1895, measures 48" x 67" an is in good condition (B+), with paper and color restoration.

Tomagno (1851-?) was one of the great poster artists at the turn of the century. This original Cachou Lajaunie poster, created in 1918, advertises a breath mint. The pharmacist, Leon Lajaunie produced an aromatic for perfuming the breath, whose strong flavor covered smoker's breath. The image features a young well-dressed woman, sporting a jaunty hat decorated with flowers, presenting a tin of Lajounie Cachous to six gentlemen...

The "Green Devil" by Leonetto Cappiello (1875-1942) is one of the great posters by the master. In typical fashion, he focuses attention onto an arresting brightly colored figure, the devil, against a black background. Vercasson, the lithographic printer, inserted their trademark, the palette, on the left side of the poster. The poster measures 47" x 63,"is linen backed and in excellent condition with color restoration in select areas.

A white-gowned woman with red and gold grapes holds a bottle of Kina Lillet. A large, colorful poster created by the noted poster artist, Roby (Robert Wolff). He was born in Cherbourg in 1916, and is known only through his work as a poster artist and creator of humourous drawings. Linen backed, measures 51" x 79" and is in excellent condition. The poster is presently being linen backed and will be in our inventory shortly.

A very muscular, happy individual pours rum into his glass. This circa 1930's poster is linen backed, in excellent condition, and measures 46" x 63." The poster artist was obviously heavily influenced by Leonetto Cappiello's style.

Gorges du Tarn is a circa 1890 chemin de fer travel poster created by Andre Surles. The poster is linen backed, measures 29" x 43" and is in excellent condition.
