In 1941, The French Railroad (Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Francais) commissioned H. deWaroquier to create a poster that would attract tourists to Bourgogne (Burgundy), the wine region in eastern France. The scene he chose is a village in the popular region.
The poster is linen backed, measures 24" x 39" and is in excellent condition with a few exceptions. The area above "Societe Nationale....had been folded and a faint mark across the entire width is visible when the poster is laying flat. There are a few paper crimps, mainly in the "sky" area that is barely visible. These slight blemishes are virtually invisible when the poster is held up, and will almost disappear when the poster is framed.
