Chicory is a perennial plant indigenous to Europe, India and Egypt. It grows as a weed in temperate climates and is widely cultivated in northern Europe. The leaves and roots are used as a vegetable and roasted roots are ground and brewed. In this circa 1920 advertising poster, a turbaned gentleman of means, aided by his walking stick is leaving on a journey accompanied by a pack of Pacha Chicorie which is placed in his pocket. The poster, which was printed in Brussels, contains two rubber tax stamps within the letters "c" and "ha." The poster is linen backed, measures 14" x 20" and is in excellent condition.
