19th Century Victorian Mahogany Sewing Box

Sewing tools and accessories are wonderful collectibles. Not only are there myriads of styles and combinations of sewing trinkets around, but people who sew are the ultimate crafters, making and modifying tools to suit their needs. For years we have collected vintage sewing items for the shop. We have a variety of pincushions, needle cases, sewing kits, thimbles and accessories.

The thread box shown here is a superb Victorian mahogany sewing box from the late-1800s. It features a rotating pincushion, eight thread spool holders and escutcheons to pull thread, a drawer, a pull out mirror and bone finials. Nicely made with light inlaid wood and ivory finials and escutcheons. We also have a combination sewing box and writing desk.

While these are higher end sewing collectibles, there are loads of simpler, less expensive items that thrill collectors. These include everything mentioned above and more, as some like to collect vintage sewing pattersn, millinery and lace, old fabric and ribbon. That's the beauty of this collectible genre. There are enough items, price ranges and sub-sets to please just about everyone.
