Gorgeous hand hammered repousse silver frame. This is from Peru in the colonial style and dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The silver is hammered from a thin sheet and hand cut to fit the wooden backing. The wood is a dark Andean hardwood – possibly mahogany. The silver has two marks on the bottom right (see photo): maker’s mark is NP in a diamond and “800.” The frame measures about 10 x 11-3/4 inches and fits a 5-3/4 x 7-3/4 inch image. Excellent condition.
