This is a mid-1900s mechanical pencil that is hung on a retractable chain. The chain is attached to a medallion that pins on a coat. It has a “cracked ice” celluloid covered barrel. It operates by twisting the bottom end to extend the lead for use. The top part twists off to reveal an eraser and a place to store leads. The pin is marked on the back: Ketcham McDougall, Upper Montclair, N.J.; and the pin mechanism is marked: Kethall. The pencil measures about 4 inches...
