Terrific WWI photograph of German soldiers at "Skat Club Hummel Montauban 1914-1915". The wooden frame is wonderfully hand painted with four different panels. The two sides have soldiers in full dress. The bottom panel is a fairly detailed village scene. The top has a banner that reads: 1914 Errinnerungan Montauban 1915...
Beautifully painted scrimshaw battle scene with soldiers on horseback. Executed on a thin piece of bone on a board backing hand decorated with ink and gold trim. The frame is Persian inlaid wood. There is a paper card on the back that indicates the date 5/17/88, which I believe is the date the painting was framed, not the date of the scrimshaw painting itself, which I believe to be older.
Measurements: Frame 6 x 3 1/2 inches...
Wonderful cardboard box with an Asian scene of a couple riding on horses on the lid. The scene is a print that is outlined by hand drawn line borders. Inside, the box is covered with gold fleur d’lys on a red background. Excellently made and decorated. The whole box is given an “antiqued” look with a lacquered finish. Excellent condition, with minor loss to the lacquer on the top (as shown). Marked on the back: DR in a circle and 12/7-...

Lovely miniature hand painted portrait of a lady. Appears to be oil on ivorine and is signed (although the signature is not legible to me). The lady has beautiful blue eyes and curly brown hair. She is holding a pink rose.
The oval frame, which has a ring hanger on the back, is gold gilt brass. There is a blue and silver label on the back with a logo and C. Frederick Faude.
This is probably French or Italian from the early 1900s and was sold as a gallery piece for tourists. The im...
This is a set of drawings on paper depicting traditional dress in Central and Eastern Europe. Drawn and painted by Maria A. Braun (Brown), Austria-Linz, in 1948-1950. Media include pencil and ink drawings, colored with watercolor and/or gouache and colored ink. Each drawing is signed in pencil on the front in a little inset drawing of hills, villages or flowers. Also signed on the backs, always with the name of the region and typically (but not all) with: Made in Austria-Linz / By: M. A. Bra...

Antique Portrait of Three Ladies from the late 1880s. They look like mother and two daughters, all with interesting topknot hairdos.
The photograph is a tintype that is in excellent condition. The portrait is a 1/9 plate size image and in a nice union case made of leather covered wood. Inside the case has a velvet lining and a gold metal frame and glass. The case hinge is partially separated. The case is about 2 7/8 inches x 2 3/8 inches by 5/8 thick when closed....

This is a great 1930s hand colored photo of Passengers on the Western Pacific Railroad Scenic Express in California. It is framed is an Arts & Crafts frame, which is probably earlier than the photo. The photo is superb, with bright colors, and it is nicely mounted in an old cardboard oval mat. The mat is black with gilt decoration. The frame is a true folk art or trench art gem, older than the photo, and made of pine with a dark stain. The photo is in excellent condition; the mat does have two s...
