Fantastic enameled brass place card holders with images of Victorian. These are delicate and quite rare. Probably Austrian, but could be Czech. The images are hand painted over a transferware outline.
Each measures about 1.5 inches tall. The enamel colors are bright and intact. The metal is plated brass (either silver or nickle plated) and much of the plating has worn off...
This is a beautifully carved wood architectural piece that has been crafted into a sconce. The acanthus leaf surface has some in dark green, pink and yellow highlights added. The Corinthian column style acanthus leaf top is probably from the early-1900s or earlier, with the top shelf and molding a later addition to make it into a sconce. Excellent condition...

Lovely miniature hand painted portrait of a lady. Appears to be oil on ivorine and is signed (although the signature is not legible to me). The lady has beautiful blue eyes and curly brown hair. She is holding a pink rose.
The oval frame, which has a ring hanger on the back, is gold gilt brass. There is a blue and silver label on the back with a logo and C. Frederick Faude.
This is probably French or Italian from the early 1900s and was sold as a gallery piece for tourists. The im...
Beautiful flower with petals and leaves made of faux tortoise (celluloid?) or nut casing. The flower is suspended on a spring on the end of the hairpin so that it trembles. The flower is about 2 inches by 2 3/4 inches and 3/4 inch deep – very 3-dimensional. The spring attaches to a 3 3/8 inch long two-prong hairpin. Condition is excellent for such an old, delicate piece. One petal has a spot of surface damage and one leaf is partially loose. Not much, considering … ...

This frame (and another that I have listed) is a beautifully intricate filigree of cast silver in a design of curls, leaves and flowers. The silver is extremely soft and pliable – probably silver solder, but definitely high silver content. The holder part of the frame is tin and would hold a 4x6 photo or picture. The easel is a simple hinged rod. There is a label on the back from J. W. Frizzell Frames Pictures Art Goods 132 W. Baltimore St. Excellent condition, with a small defect from wher...

This is a wonderful little Victorian antique sewing item. It is from the late 19th Century (1850-1890). The Pincushion is turned, hand carved and pierced. The cobalt blue velvet pincushion is hand sewn onto the vegetable ivory base. The base, which is pierced all over, has a removable cap on the bottom, and is filled with what I assume to be oiled wool to keep the needles sharp.
Vegetable ivory is actually the coquille nut or tagua nut, which dries hard and gains a wonderful patina with ...
