Unusual and hard to find original book by George Gunn published by J. I. Austen 1906 1st ed. Soft cover. A scarce piece of African-American memorobilia. Combines color illustrations (8) with B&W photos (6) of African-American children (all quite stereotypical, politically incorrect and racist) with a story in verse about a young black boy. Each picture is surrounded by line drawings. There was an array of products featuring Rufus Rastus at the turn of the last century, including sheet music and records, games and dolls. 16 heavy paper pages (11-1/2 x 9-1/2 inches) including covers. Quite good condition, with a few creases, some color loss on the edges of the covers and a minor 1/2-inch tear at the bottom of the spine.
