|Gorgeous hand hammered repousse silver frame. This is from Peru in the colonial style and dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The silver is hammered from a thin sheet and hand cut to fit the wooden backing. The wood is Andean hardwood – possibly mahogany. The silver has three marks on the bottom right (see photo) but they are mostly worn off. I can vaguely make out “925.” The frame measures about 11 x 13-3/4 inches and fits a 7 x 9 inch image. The frame is missing the stand on the back and has a label that reads: Por Una Venezuela Libre y de los Venezolanos – Pan Tierra Trabajo … translated as: For a Free Venezuela and Venezuelans - Whole Earth Work. Excellent condition, with one minor piece of silver missing top left.|
