Gorgeous hand hammered repousse silver mirror / vanity tray. This is from Peru in the colonial style and dates to the early to mid 20th century. The silver is hammered from a thin sheet and hand cut to fit the wooden backing and protect the mirror. There is a second thin piece of silver wrapped around the frame edge. The wood is Andean hardwood – possibly mahogany. The silver has two marks (see photo): PERU and 925. The roughly oval frame around the tray/mirror measures about 10 x 12-3/4 inches. The back has four silver feet for when it is used as a tray, and two hangers for when it is used as a wall mirror. Excellent condition.
