This is a beautifully hand wrought citrus or grapefruit spoon. The handle has a carefully crafted stalk of leaves and flowers, culminating in a pair of gilt chrysanthemums or poppies. There is also a bird halfway up the handle. The bowl of the spoon appears to have been applied to the handle and is itself decorated with a poppy floral motif with a little butterfly above the flower. This is unmarked and surely sterling silver (or similar silver content). About 5 1/2” long.
The design is very much like the Repousse or Rose patterns by Kirk Stieff, but this is not by that maker – it’s handcrafted. Could be early Arts & Crafts or even Art Nouveau time period, as the design is definitely influenced by the aesthetic movement.
