Very nice oval repousse pillbox with cherubs on the lid. Made in the time from 1934-1944 in Florence, Italy – according to the mark. Excellent quality workmanship, with a nice design, a gold vermeil wash inside and a solid hinge. Silver content is the continental standard 800/1000 used in Italy through the mid-1900s. The mark - (800) (65*FI) - indicates 800 silver and Florence, Italy. The Fascist mark is present, which dates this to 1934-1944.
Measures about 1 1/4 inches long, 13/16 inch wide and 1/2 inch deep. Excellent condition. |
