We are proud to present two of the largest and most impressive examples of Japanese animal carving we have seen in our career. Depicting fierce eagles with raised wings, perched upon rock with squirrels at their feet, each measures approximately 47" tall, 32" across and 30" deep (119 by 81 by 76 cm). Neither is signed and their condition is good. There are scratches, stress cracks, wear and small losses, including to the tail, and talon of one figure. Price upon request.

This lovely antique vase in the Japanese Imari style is an exceptional example of Chinese export porcelain. It features ormolu bronze mounts including female lions clawing at grapevines, pedestal in the Rococo style and a simple mount decorating the rim. All gilded surfaces are original. This lovely nineteenth century Satsuma vase features foo dogs with rings at the neck, and elaborate applied figural decorations with enamel, and giltwood base. There are some minor losses to the enamel decorations, consistent with age. There is a crack to the applied cat figure, and a crack to one of the applied male figures, which may both date from the time of firing. This item is fresh from estate sale and we have not removed the base to inspect for marks...
