This fine green patinated bronze sculpture by Salvatore Melani (French, 1902-1934) depicts a male hunter spearing a charging lion. Measures 37.5" wide, 8.75" deep and 18.5" high. Signed in the cast and set upon a black, grey and green variegated marble plinth. Weighs an estimated 40-60 lbs. Very good condition. There are some modest scrapes and wear to the patina, and the spear has some bends as well.

This delightful box by Smokey Tunis (c1913-1999), the noted sculptor and so-called Beatnik furniture maker, dates from the 1950s or 1960s. This delightful marble sculpture, after a model by Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814), depicts two cherubs wearing crowns of grapes and leaves, at play beside a goat. Inscribed "Clodion 1886". Measures 40" tall, 32" wide and 21" deep (101.6 by 81.3 by 53.3 cm). It was purchased from lot 372 in sale 1716 at Christie's in New York on 10/24/06. Condition is excellent.
