This exceptional porcelain plaque is enameled with a scene of three Arab men smoking hookahs and playing backgammon, apparently after an original oil painting by the accomplished British painter, William Henry Margetson (1861-1940). Plaque is beautifully detailed with ornate curtains, wallpaper and Oriental rug and finely detailed faces. "W. Margetson" signature in lower left. These Paris porcelain campana form urns or vases date from the early to mid nineteenth century. They feature painted landscapes, enamelled handles and Bacchic masks, and extensive gilded decorations. Condition of each is good. There are abrasions and chip losses to the interior of the rims, and visible wear to the gilding, and a very small chip loss to the bottom edge of one vase. This porcelain plaque by KPM, after the original oil painted by Rembrandt in 1635, depicts the painter and his wife, Saskia. Plaque measures 5 by 6.8 inches and resides in a period frame measuring 11.5 by 13.5 by 3 inches. We have not removed the plaque for closer inspection and are selling the item as-is. Condition of the surface is very good. There is a small area of blunt force damage near the lower left corner, and a thin scrape along the botton edge in the center...

This pair of antique porcelain joss stick holders or candlesticks in the form of ceremonial elephants have come fresh from estate sale. We have found no visible cracks or signs of restoration. Each carries the same impressed mark which appears to be a capital "S" with "+" sign and "W" or other character. Possibly by Samson. Neither were cleaned prior to photography, and each would benefit from a gentle cleaning. Each measures approximately 9.7" high, 9" long and 4" deep.

These framed portrait plaques depicting elegant young women are signed "J Pirkner" and date from the mid to late nineteenth century. They reside in period giltwood and gesso frames which are in good condition. There are a few minor gesso losses. There is some inpainting noticeable to the fur jacket of the female pictured on the right. There are no visible cracks or losses.
