This antique bronze by the French artist, Eugene Marioton (1857-1933), depicts a maiden in classical robe playing a double flute, is known as "Muses des Bois". It resides on a green marble stone pedestal. Signed in the cast with no foundry mark. Measures: 35" H X 19" W X 10" D (88.9 cm H X 48.3 cm W X 25.4 cm D). Additional images forwarded upon request.
This fine green patinated bronze sculpture by Salvatore Melani (French, 1902-1934) depicts a male hunter spearing a charging lion. Measures 37.5" wide, 8.75" deep and 18.5" high. Signed in the cast and set upon a black, grey and green variegated marble plinth. Weighs an estimated 40-60 lbs. Very good condition. There are some modest scrapes and wear to the patina, and the spear has some bends as well.
This bronze by Edouard Drouot (1859-1945) depicts a seated Greek or Roman scholar or philosopher in classical robes, and is raised on a veined black marble plinth, with gilt bronze plaques cast in shallow relief which depict shepherds and flocks in pastoral landscapes. The bronze is inscribed E. Drouot and the interior is stamped 9707. Measures 26.2 by 10 by 12 in (66.5 by 25.4 by 30.5 cm).

This extraodinary bronze sculpture, Gloria Victis, by Marius Jean Antonin Mercie (1845-1916), was cast by Barbedienne in the nineteenth century. Measuring 56" (142 cm), it is believed to be the second largest cast known to have been made by Barbedienne. First conceived while Mercie was studying in Rome at the French Academy, it originally modelled where Fame was supporting a victorius warrior in anticipation of a positive outcome to the Franco-Prussian war started in 1870...

This large bronze bust by Edith Lichtenstein depicts a distinguished Middle Eastern gentleman and was cast by Gorham in the late nineteenth century. It measures 28" tall and is in excellent condition. The man wears a turbin and a jewel earring hangs from his left ear. The subject may be Persian, Turkish or Arabian.
This fabulous patinated bronze sculpture by the French animalier, Henri Crous Vidal (1864-1918), depicts a roaring lion. It measures 27.5" wide, 14" tall and 7" deep. It carries a cast signature with the year 1874, and no foundry mark. The lion figurine was cast separately from the plinth and affixed with bolts. Patina is a rich and warm light brown. This item resides with our client in northern New Jersey and may be seen in person by appointment.
This nineteenth century bronze figurine depicts the Greek mythological hero, Narcissus, after the original by the Italian sculptor, Vincenso Gemito (1852-1929) which was cast in the 1880s. It was cast by Barbedienne and measures 25" tall and 9.5" wide and deep. A Narcissus was a hero from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. In various stories he was said to be exceptionally cruel in disdaining those who loved him...
This impressive Grand Tour bronze depicting the Greek mythological figures, Pygmalion and Galatea, measures 30.75" by 14" by 12". It is unsigned with no foundry mark, but numbered 55025 and 1 on the side of the base. It is believed to date from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. According to wikipedia, Pygmalion was a sculptor who had never found a woman worthy of his love. Aphrodite took pity on him and decided to show him the wonders of love...

This large patinated bronze sculpture titled La Frayeur (The Fright), by Charles Georges Ferville Suan (1833-1891), measures an impressive 37.5" by 21" by 14.5". It depicts a bare-footed young man, partially draped in fur skin, with one hand wielding a club in defense of a coiled snake. This work is believed to date from the period of the artist or shortly thereafter. It is extremely heavy and we have not inspected nor photographed the underside...

This gilt bronze figurine by Francois Joseph Bosio (1768-1845) depicts William IV as a child. It measures 16" by 6" by 5". It is signed "Bosio" in the base and the underside bears the mark "MB", possibly an early mark of Barbedienne of Paris. Original patina is intact and the condition is excellent. The plaster model for this statue of the young king Henry IV of France was presented at Paris Salon in 1822, and was the artist's first example of troubadour art...
